Silver-washed Fritillary

These large, graceful butterflies can be found swooping near woodlands throughout July and August. Silver-washed Fritillary Facts: • They are the largest of our nine fritillary species in Britain. • They are named after the beautiful silver streaks on the underside of their wings. • Their caterpillars feed on common dog-violet.
