Small White

Look out for them in gardens and allotments from March to August. Small White Facts: • They prefer to feed on white and blue flowers. • They can be easily confused with the similar Large White but apart from an overall size difference, the black mark on the wing tip of the large white is also larger and longer. • One of a handful of white butterflies who get given the name 'cabbage white' due to the fondness of their caterpillars for feeding on cabbages and other brassicas. • It is believed they can fly up to 160 kilometres in their lifetimes. • Alternative names included 'Small Garden White' and 'Summer Snowflakes'.
